“Clash In The Clayton 3” International Kickboxing & K-1

Our 20 year anniversary IKF Sanctioned show last Saturday night was nothing short of amazing!
Massive packed out crowd, beautiful ring girls, 18 fantastic well matched fights, class MC & DJ, great sound system, fully videoed by David Greeley who is a legend at this stage, lovely trophies, fighters from near & far, completely neutral officials, no whingers which is always a bonus 😉, TV & Radio coverage, raffle, great sponsors, colour Programmes, fantastic treatment by management & staff of the Clayton Hotel who went out of their way to help, birthday celebrations for Black Dragon topped off with a lovely cake and messages from our fantastic membership past & present, top class corner staff, door staff, security staff by delta, warm up staff, set up/down crew, excellent singer Tara who sang Amhrain Na Bhiann for the main event, the show was attended by Lord Mayor of Galway Councillor Frank Fahy who spoke highly of us all – and ….. Galway has a new World Champion.
Not a bad nights work for one of Ireland’s most successful Kickboxing clubs.
Huge thanks to all involved from myself and Clodagh – we are so super proud of not just our super fighters, but of every single member of our close knit team who worked so hard on the night to make it a night to remember for sure.
20 years went by in the blink of an eye and in that time, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing people and turned a lot of them into champions – a lot of them have moved on or retired or left for one reason or another and a lot are still with us but one thing is for sure – you have all been an integral part of Black Dragon and important cogs in the wheel along the way, as without your input in some way or another, things may have been different.
It’s very difficult to keep absolutely everybody happy all the time and sometimes I may have failed in that department but it certainly wasn’t for the want of trying and I guess as long as most people are happy, I’ve not done too bad a job.
We have consistently trained high level fighters at Black Dragon and we will continue to do so as this is what defines us – our standards are high.
At the present moment in time, our fight team is very strong, as is our back room team and our supporters and friends and this is something we are fiercely proud of.
All of our fight team gave it everything last night and win, lose or draw – we salute you all.
Paul Huish, this was your night – we always knew what you were capable of and we never lost faith in your ability to shine and you turned out to be one of our finest – not just as a fighter, but as a person and a friend.
Congrats champ and congrats to all our stars.
